As you said, we often do VBS (and many other ministry efforts) because "we've always done it that way" and then we pray for God's blessing after we've made our plans. The post referenced Proverbs 3:5-6, quoting only verse 5 -- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Notice what comes next in verse 6 -- "in ALL your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
