Praising God, Even on a Bad Day

Have you taken time TODAY to praise God for who He is and what He has done?

Having a bad day?  Praise Him anyway.

3 Truths to Remember When Struggling to Praise God on Our Bad Days

The Psalmist praised God for being reliable to him since birth. (See Ps. 71:6.)  God will be consistently faithful to us, unlike our human relationships.  We know we should be reliable in our relationships but if we were to be honest, we’d all have to admit that there are times we have fallen short. Not so with God!  Even “if we are faithless, he will remain faithful” (2 Tim. 2:13).   — If you couldn’t find something to praise Him about today, that should give you a reason!

When we have bad days and find it hard to praise God, He understands because He remembers that we are human.  If we would give each other that same consideration, what a difference it would make in our churches and ministries!  God knows us intimately at all stages of our lives and still loves us.  He forgives us and has compassion on us “for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust” (Ps. 103:11-14).   — Certainly that should give you something to praise about … especially on a bad day!

Other people can try to help by providing us with resources and encouragement but any help they can give pales next to the support that comes from the Lord.  “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Ps. 103:2).  The Psalm goes on to list some of those benefits which include things no human could ever offer you.  “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens” (Ps. 68:19).  — Acknowledge how He is there for you on bad days like none other and you will not be able to help but to start praising Him.

You could be having a bad day for any variety of reasons but the answer is the same.

Remember, God will be faithful to you.

Remember, God knows and understands your struggles.

Remember, God has resources for you that can make you feel rich even if you are poor, that can make you feel strong even if you are weak, that can give you plenty to praise about!

And, don’t forget to tell others what He has done.

I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good.  I will praise you in the presence of your saints.  (Ps. 52:9)

  1. Our sole source of sustenance is the unwavering love of God which is new every morning Hosea 11:1-11, in it we live and have our existence, praising God is the little we can offer in all circumstances.

    • Amen! “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess. 5:18)

  2. I am blessed by this website and I thank God for the directions and help given on this page on worship. I recommend it to everybody.
