\nAt the root of one’s view of the social issues about human life is a moral choice one makes about life.\u00a0 Even deeper, however, is the choice we make about who determines morality. That’s the real issue when it come to the sanctity of human life.<\/p>\n

Getting to the Real Issue When It Comes to the Sanctity of Human Life<\/h2>\n

The Social Issues:<\/p>\n

abortion<\/a>, human embryo research, human cloning, euthanasia,<\/a> what to do with people who are disabled<\/a>, etc.<\/p>\n

The Moral Issues:\u00a0 ethics<\/p>\n

Who should we protect and defend and who can be abused or destroyed?<\/p>\n

Who do we give value to and who can be disregarded and viewed as inferior?<\/p>\n

Who should we treat with dignity and respect and who can be mocked or robbed of dignity?<\/p>\n

The Deeper Issues:\u00a0 authority<\/p>\n

Do we listen to what the media tells us?\u00a0 Does a plethora of propaganda make something right?<\/p>\n

Do we go with what government allows?\u00a0 Does legalization make something right?<\/p>\n

Do we adhere to scientific theory?\u00a0 Does someone’s interpretation of science make something right?<\/p>\n

Do we hold to what seems expedient?\u00a0 Do circumstances make something right?<\/p>\n

Do we look for a source outside of ourselves?\u00a0 Does God determine what is right?<\/p>\n

How you handle the social issues are mere symptoms of your ethics.\u00a0 Ethics stem from your basis of authority in making ethical decisions.\u00a0 So, the real issue is how reliable your authoritative base is for making life and death decisions.
