Perhaps the reason the Book of Philippians contains some of the most treasured and quoted Bible verses is because of how practical that book is for our daily lives and the church.<\/p>\n

Prized Verses for Reflection and Memorization in the Book of Philippians<\/h2>\n

You might already have some of the following verses memorized. Let me encourage you to take some time to reflect on how these verses can help you today with whatever issues you might be facing. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12)<\/span> You may even want to work at memorizing those verses <\/a>which are especially meaningful to you.<\/p>\n

1:3 – I thank my God every time I remember you.<\/em><\/p>\n

1:6 – being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.<\/em><\/p>\n

1:21 – For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.<\/em><\/p>\n

2:3-4 – Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.<\/em><\/p>\n

2:9-11 – Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.<\/em><\/p>\n

3:8-9 – What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ – the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.<\/em><\/p>\n

3:10-11 – I want to know Christ -yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.<\/em><\/p>\n

3:12 – Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.<\/em><\/p>\n

3:13-14 – Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.<\/em><\/p>\n

3:20 – But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ<\/em><\/p>\n

4:4 – Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!<\/em><\/p>\n

4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.<\/em><\/p>\n

4:8 – Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable\u2014if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.<\/em><\/p>\n

4:12 – I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.<\/em><\/p>\n

4:13 – I can do everything through him who gives me strength.<\/em><\/p>\n

4:19 – And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.<\/em><\/p>\n

Other familiar verses from Philippians could be added to the list but the list was getting quite long with those included. Imagine if we regularly applied these verses to our lives!
