Apologetics comes from the Greek word “apologia” found in 1 Peter 3:15-16<\/span> meaning to give a verbal defense.<\/p>\n

These verses also tell us to whom we give that defense — to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have<\/em>. This suggests a readiness factor.<\/p>\n

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with<\/span>\u00a0gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Importance of the Readiness Factor to Apologetics<\/h2>\n

Not everyone is ready for apologetics. Too often people are turned off to Christianity because of zealous defenders of the faith. Notice that 1 Peter 3:15<\/span> says we give a defense when asked.<\/p>\n
