Imagine if we followed the Early Church example of benevolence as recorded in the Book of Acts:<\/p>\n

All believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among<\/em> them<\/strong>. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need (Acts 4:32-35)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Two Lessons We Can Learn from the Early Church Example of Benevolence:<\/h2>\n

  1. This kind of benevolent care for one another happened because “all believers were one in heart and mind” (Acts 4:32). Benevolence toward one another grows out of true fellowship.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Theirs was not a social gospel making benevolence an end in itself. Rather, “with great power the apostles continued to testify” (Acts 4:33). Truth remained central to their endeavors.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
