{"id":4000,"date":"2010-08-30T08:00:34","date_gmt":"2010-08-30T12:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/?p=4000"},"modified":"2025-06-02T13:20:29","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T17:20:29","slug":"objective-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/objective-people.htm","title":{"rendered":"Ministry Objective:  Not Mere Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3721 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/target.jpg\" alt=\"Ministry Objectives Not Mere Management\" width=\"100\" height=\"75\" \/><br \/>\nIn <a href=\"https:\/\/trainchurchleaders.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leadership<\/a> we work with ideas, schedules, strategies, finances, and people.\u00a0 We could easily get caught up in managing it all, making sure we have a smooth running program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 75px;\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/trainbibleteachers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teaching<\/a> we have a lesson plan to accomplish.\u00a0 We could easily set our goal on having a perfect class which requires good classroom management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 75px;\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/mintools.com\/outreach-ministry.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outreach<\/a> we want to see people come into the kingdom.\u00a0 We could easily focus on being at the right places, saying all the right things, and doing what is necessary to win people for Christ which requires us to manage our time, tongue, and talents wisely to accomplish results.<\/p>\n<p>When excellence, efficiency, and efficacy become our overriding goals, we can lose sight of the real reason we should be doing what we do, our <a title=\"Church Purpose\" href=\"https:\/\/mintools.com\/church-purpose.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">overriding purpose<\/a> &#8230; loving people\u00a0which spills out of our love for God.\u00a0 When that happens,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Problems become obstacles to surmount rather than opportunities to help people grow.<\/li>\n<li>The end tends to justify the means and we lose integrity in the process or walk on people to get where we want to be.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our ministry objective needs to be loving people, not mere management of them.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We shoot for excellence to get people&#8217;s attention and to adequately provide for their needs.\u00a0\u00a0 We strive for efficiency so we have more time to focus on people.\u00a0 We\u00a0want efficacy not so we can gloat in numbers or other results but rather to rejoice that people have come to know the Lord and are growing in their relationship with Him.<\/p>\n<p>According to <span class=\"class2\">1 Corinthians 13:1-3,<\/span> it doesn&#8217;t matter how well you do something or how spectacular the results are, if you have not love &#8230;.
