{"id":4323,"date":"2010-10-18T08:00:35","date_gmt":"2010-10-18T12:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/?p=4323"},"modified":"2023-05-18T14:03:59","modified_gmt":"2023-05-18T18:03:59","slug":"master-teacher-jesus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/master-teacher-jesus.htm","title":{"rendered":"3 More Important Lessons for Bible Teachers from the Master Teacher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding-left: 10px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4039 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Jesus-teaching.jpg\" alt=\"Lessons from Jesus, the Master Teacher\" width=\"150\" height=\"189\" \/>In a previous post we looked at <a title=\"Lessons from the Master Teacher, Jesus\" href=\"https:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/jesus-master-teacher.htm\">3 important lessons from the Master Teacher<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<ul>\n<li>His Power Source<\/li>\n<li>His Character<\/li>\n<li>His Methodology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>As the Master Teacher, we will find in Jesus many more important lessons for us as Bible teachers.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s look at three more lessons.<\/p>\n<h2>3 Important Lessons for Bible Teachers from the Example of the Master Teacher, Jesus<\/h2>\n<p><strong>1) Authority of the Master Teacher:<\/strong>\u00a0 <span class=\"class2\">Though God Himself, Jesus submitted to the Father.\u00a0 He spoke and acted as the Father directed (Jn. 5:19, 30; 10:18; 14:10).\u00a0 He let the Father set the parameters, not Himself.\u00a0 He yielded His will to the Father&#8217;s will, even when it meant a cruel and torturous death (Matt. 26:39; Phil. 2:5-8).\u00a0 He made sure others knew the Father was the standard and that they were not to believe Him unless He did what His Father did (Jn. 10:37).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Questions for Bible Teachers:<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 50px;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Do you seek to speak truth based on God&#8217;s Word and not your own opinions and not in accordance with this world&#8217;s system?<\/li>\n<li>Do you seek to line up all your teaching with God, even when you don&#8217;t feel like it or it isn&#8217;t convenient?<\/li>\n<li>Do you seek to make it clear that in and of yourself, though you are the teacher, you have no authority apart from God and His Word?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><strong>Help for Bible Teachers:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 50px;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Worksheet:\u00a0 <a title=\"Biblical Authority\" href=\"https:\/\/mintools-store.com\/products\/biblical-authority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biblical Authority versus the Authoritarian and Permissive Teachers<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>2) Approach of the Master Teacher:<\/strong>\u00a0 Though Jesus knew all things, He didn&#8217;t inundate people with everything He knew.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t tell all the answers to their questions. He used an approach that made them think.\u00a0 He often threw it back on them in the form of a questions, sometimes answering\u00a0a question with a question.\u00a0 <span class=\"class2\">(See: Matt. 16:13; 22:45-46; 23:17; Mk. 2:25-26; 3:4; 8:29; 10:3)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Questions for Bible Teachers: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 50px;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Do you see your role as more of a teller, dispensing truth into the lives of your students, or as a guide, enabling students to think it through and discover truth on their own?<\/li>\n<li>Do you use questions effectively?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Help for Bible Teachers:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 50px;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Worksheet:\u00a0 <a title=\"Work Your Way Through the Lesson with Questions\" href=\"https:\/\/mintools-store.com\/products\/through-lesson-with-questions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Work Your Way Through the Lesson with Questions<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>3) Accommodation of the Master Teacher:<\/strong>\u00a0 Jesus knew how to connect with people, to meet them where they were.\u00a0 Though He was God, He refrained from using lofty language that would show His academic superiority.\u00a0 He spoke using words and concepts from their everyday life.\u00a0 Jesus was a master at using object lessons to teach truths in order to make a bridge from the known to the unknown <span class=\"class2\">(Matt. 18:1-6; 22:15-22).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Questions for Bible Teachers:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 50px;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Are you connecting with your students using vocabulary and concepts they are able to understand?<\/li>\n<li>Do you effectively use illustrations, whether that be word pictures, visuals, stories, or object lessons, that fit within their abilities, interests, and everyday lives?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Help for Bible Teachers:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 50px;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Worksheet:\u00a0 <a title=\"Tips for Using Object Lessons\" href=\"https:\/\/mintools-store.com\/products\/tips-using-object-lessons\">Tips for Using Object Lessons<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the Master Teacher, we will find in Jesus many important lessons for us as Bible teachers.
