Sure, as a church you might not be able to keep up with the latest and greatest high tech equipment.\u00a0 You might not have the time or personnel to develop major productions.\u00a0 You might not be able to afford presentation projectors for each classroom.\u00a0 Your pastoral staff might not be qualified as executives of Fortune 500 companies.\u00a0 Don’t panic.\u00a0 We don’t need to compete with the world!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Don’t get me wrong, we should strive for excellence in ministry because we want to give of our best to\u00a0the Lord\u00a0and we want to do what we can to reach people.\u00a0 In God’s economy both the process and end result matter<\/a>.\u00a0 Yet, our motivation for providing quality ministry should not be in order to compete with the world.\u00a0 We don’t need to compete with the world!<\/em><\/p>\n

Why Competing with the World Isn’t Necessary in the Church<\/h2>\n

In case the point of this post hasn’t sunk in, let me repeat it.\u00a0 We don’t need to compete with the world!\u00a0 <\/em>Why? — Because we have Jesus!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

… in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.\u00a0 (Col. 1:14-18)\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All of Scripture points us to Jesus.\u00a0 He is all-sufficient.\u00a0 He is enough.\u00a0 He is the answer.\u00a0 We don’t have to compete with the world!<\/em><\/p>\n
