Of the early church, Acts 2:47<\/span> says that they were “enjoying the favor of all the people.\u00a0 And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”\u00a0 Though they would experience persecution from religious leaders of their day who did not accept Jesus as the Messiah, the general populace seemed to view them favorably.<\/p>\n

Lessons from the Early Church About Gaining Favor Without Compromising<\/h2>\n
The Early Church did not compromise Truth.<\/span><\/div>\n

A few verses earlier, Acts 2 states that “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching.”\u00a0 The message remained central. They obviously did not water down truth<\/a> to appeal to unbelievers.\u00a0 Gaining favor did not mean doctrinal compromise.<\/p>\n

The Early Church demonstrated something people wanted.<\/span><\/div>\n

Acts 2:42-47<\/span> describes their willingness to look out for each other in tangible ways, evidence of motives based on love.\u00a0 The world often uses how we treat each other as a litmus test which seemed to be the case for the early church.\u00a0 There was an authenticity and sincerity in what they did.\u00a0 Learn from the example of the early church<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Implications for Today’s Church About Gaining Favor without Compromise<\/span><\/h2>\n

We have the same message of Truth to extend to the world around us.\u00a0 Will people listen?\u00a0 Will people respond to us favorably even if they don’t agree with the message?\u00a0 Perhaps we need to look at ourselves through their eyes.\u00a0 Are we passing the litmus test?\u00a0 When people look at the Church today, what do they see?\u00a0 Is it something they would want?\u00a0 Let’s\u00a0start by doing\u00a0some soul-searching.<\/p>\n
