\"God<\/a>
\nMost of you are familiar with David of the Old Testament.\u00a0 God chose him as king on the basis of what was in his heart, not how he looked.<\/p>\n

“The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”\u00a0 (1 Sam. 16:7)<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What’s in the Heart Matters in Serving, Not Just the End Result<\/h2>\n

The heart is so significant<\/a> because it guides how we do what we do.\u00a0 “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.” (Lk. 6:45)<\/span><\/p>\n

David was well aware of this truth and the need to serve out of a heart of integrity.\u00a0 How he served mattered.<\/p>\n

“I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity.”\u00a0 (1 Chron. 29:17)<\/span><\/p>\n

“And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.”\u00a0 (Ps. 78:72)<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In God’s economy, the end does not justify the means.\u00a0 The process matters.\u00a0\u00a0 How interesting that 1 Corinthians 3:13 says that “the fire will test the QUALITY of each man’s work.”\u00a0\u00a0 Accomplishments, no matter how great they might seem, will be like the “wood, hay, or straw” that will burn up on the day of judgment (1 Cor. 3:11-15) if not accomplished with an integrity-filled process.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ignoring Process Misses the Big Picture
\n<\/span><\/h2>\n

If we are not concerned with the process, we might just find ourselves trampling on the very people we are called to serve.\u00a0 In an effort to check something off our “to do” list, we might miss the big picture if we do not concern ourselves with the process.<\/p>\n

Preachers, Teachers:<\/em> It isn’t just about saying the right things.\u00a0 Your heart and life must back up what you say.<\/p>\n

Parents, Teachers, Leaders: <\/em>It isn’t just about solving problems.\u00a0 You need to consistently address wrong-doing, training people with the truth of God’s Word, but you must do it out of a heart of love, demonstrating both grace and truth.<\/p>\n

Children’s Workers: <\/em> It isn’t just about methodology.\u00a0 You need to creatively engage students in the learning process in ways that fit their developmental abilities but methodology must never take the place of relationships which stem from a caring heart. Children need to know you love them.<\/p>\n

People Helpers:<\/em> It isn’t just about doing your duty.\u00a0 You should give to the poor and help those in crisis due to natural disasters and other losses but also feel their pain.\u00a0 Are you weeping with those who weep? (Rom. 12:15)<\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t be fooled.\u00a0 The process does matter!\u00a0 To think otherwise is to follow the ways of the world. Let’s dare to be different. Let’s maintain a heart of integrity and love in all we do so that both the process and the end result glorify God.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
