Spring is a wonderful season of the year when new growth appears, flowers start to bloom, and birds are chirping. These concepts can form the backdrop for a seasonal bulletin board.
Bible Verses with the Words ‘Spring’ or ‘Springtime’:
Scripture with the words “spring” or “springtime” refer to spring rains (Job. 29:23; Prov. 16:15; Jer. 3:3; 5:24; Hos. 6:3; Joel 2:23; Zech. 10:1; James 5:7). Most of these verses would need a greater context for understanding and consequently would not be good for use on a bulletin board but you could possibly use …
Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. (James 5:7)
Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hos. 6:3)
Theme Possibility: Spring rains bring benefits and so a theme might be “The Blessings of Spring,” “Showers of Blessings,” or “Count Your Blessings.” You could design the board with the look of fresh grass and flower beds where the sprouts are just starting to show with rain drops coming down. To make it interactive, you could cut out large rain drops on which students write a blessing from God and tack it on to a spring scene on the board.
Bible Verses Describing Spring:
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. (Song of Sol. 2:11-13)
Theme Possibility: Since this verse deals with the transition from winter to spring you could do something like “Winter Lasts But a Season & Then Comes the Renewal of Spring.”
Bible Verses About Seeds, Planting, New Growth:
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. (Matt. 6:28-29)
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: … a time to plant … (Eccl. 3:1-2)
He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate–bringing forth food from the earth (Ps. 104:14)
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. (Isa. 61:11)
The Parable about Sower & the Seed (Matt. 13:3-9, 18-23)
Theme Possibility: Since spring is a time for sowing, you could use a sowing and reaping theme like “Sow Now & Reap in Due Season.”
Bible Verses about New Beginnings:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Cor. 5:17)
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” (Rev. 21:5)
Theme: Anything looking like the newness of the spring season could be a backdrop for either of the above verses.
Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. (Ps. 96:1)
Theme: You could display the above verse with a background of birds sitting on branches with spring blossoms. Depending on the look, you might use musical notes trim.
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. (Rom. 6:4)
An Easter theme is quite appropriate in conjunction with spring referencing the new life we have in Him.
Bible Verse for Spring Cleaning:
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)
Theme Possibility: Spring housecleaning would be a good women’s ministry theme for a bulletin board displaying pictures of one’s house being cleaned.
Bulletin Board Design Tips for Spring:
- Use bright, spring colors and pastels.
- Use images and border trim with the following: birds (especially robins), bird nests, feathers, caterpillars, butterflies, ladybugs, flowers, flower buds, grass, blossoming trees, seeds, rain drops, puddles, rainbows umbrellas, rabbits, ducks, little chicks
