God desires for the Church to grow and gives the blueprint for growth in His Word.
While adhering to one or two of the following ways should help, God intends for all three to be happening in the Church.
1) Emphasize how everything is about Jesus, the Head of the Church.
… grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament … (Eph. 4:15-16a)
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. (Col. 1:15-18)

2) Encourage everybody to do their part.
From him (Jesus) the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Eph. 4:16)
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Pet. 4:10)

3) Equip everybody to do their part.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:11-13)
We need to do more than encourage people to do their part. We need to equip them … to provide the kind of training that not only helps them identify what their part might be but also understand how to do it effectively.
