5 Decision-Making Questions Ministry Leaders Should Ask

Share:

Ministry leaders constantly face the need for making decisions, many of which could have long-ranging effects. It’s important we get it right.

Questions Ministry Leaders Should Ask in Decision-Making

Before making a final decision, ministry leaders should ask questions that would help them make sure the decision lines up with God and His ways.

  1. Have we prayed about this? (Matt. 6:33; Col. 4:2; 1 Thess. 5:17)

    ⇒ Stop and pray!

  2. What course of action would most conform to the heart and ways of Jesus? (Rom. 8:29; Eph. 5:1-2; Col. 3:17)

⇒ Examine similar situations Jesus encountered.

  3. Does it line up with crucial Biblical principles? (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12; 5:14)

⇒ Examine the whole of Scripture.

  4. Is the course of action God-honoring and above reproach? (Rom. 14:16; 1 Cor. 10:31)

    ⇒ Seek to be honest.

  5. Do we have peace from the Holy Spirit? (Rom. 14:17; Phil. 4:6-7)

⇒ If not, wait and keep praying.

  1. Good questions to ask in board meetings. Easy to be driven to complete agendas or fix problems that we don’t always take time to stop and make sure God is in it.

  2. How true!!! Have been on church board where decisions were made without doing what these questions suggest and THEN we have the gall to ask God to bless it. God help us!!

  3. We always need to pray about everything before we make an important decision or not! It is far more important to pray in earnest for our decisions for the whole Church! God can help us make the right decisions much better than trying to do it on our own! Col. 3:17 says it all! The answers do lie in Christ!! And in Heb. 5:14 it tells us that we need to learn right from wrong! 1 Cor. 10:33 tells we are to do what’s best for the Church, not just for ourselves! Last but not least, Rom. 14:18 says that if Jesus is in it God will be glad and so will others! Praise God For All He Has Done For Us!!! Leonard!
